The Chakras

The chakras are psyche centers in the body along the spine.   Actually it is very difficult to comprehend this unless one is exposed to the basic system of Vedic knowledge.   These chakras are subtle and not visible to the eye and cannot be seen under any type of microscopic examination since their exact location is in the astral body.    Mind requires proof; students who advance in the field of spiritual activity can only get this proof, in meditation through the yogic practices.   It would be foolish to try to locate the nadis and chakras in a gross human body.    Due to ignorance of the relationship of the gross, astral and causal bodies many people loose faith in this divine science.   A great patience and time is required to learn and validate this spiritual knowledge.

There are many centers of power and consciousness in the body - the main centers are seven.   These centers lie dormant in a being and have to be activated by yogic practices.   In freak cases sometimes, due to certain unknown reasons any one or many of these centers may become active, one can get occult visions and other extrasensory perceptions.    Wrong activation or premature arousal of the chakras can bring about mental complications.   This is being written to bring about this awareness, as neophytes are very eager to hurry up the entire process of realization and acquisition of knowledge.  Do not be in a hurry in any of the yogic disciplines.

The chakras appear to be located along the spine. Along the chakras are three main nadis called Ida, Pingla and Sushumna.  Each chakra has control over a particular center in the gross body.   The seven chakras their names and other few characteristics are given as under:

(a)    Muldhara Chakra.   This is located at the top of the anal cavity.   The Ida, Pingla and Sushumna Nadis meet at this chakra.   The exact location of this chakra is two fingers above the anus and two fingers below the genitals.  Kundalni is located at this chakra.  From here important nadis emanate who appear like the petals of lotus.   Here Kundalni lies dormant, Lord Ganesha is the devta of this chakra.   This chakra corresponds to Bhu Loka.  He color of this chakra is yellow.  He who concentrates and meditates on this chakra acquires full knowledge of means to awaken the Kundalni.

(b)   Svadhishthana Chakra.   This is located at the root of the genitals; it has control over the organs located in around the abdomen.   Presiding deity of this chakra is Lord Brahma and devta is Goddess Rakini.   The color of this chakra is blood red or like vermilion.   Meditation on this chakra can bestow one with many extrasensory perceptions.

(c)    Manipura Chakra.     This chakra is in the corresponding region of the navel.   This is a very important center it controls many nadis.  This chakra is of the color of dark clouds within this there is a space triangle. This Chakra corresponds to the heavens.

(d)    Anahata Chakras.     This is located in the Sushumna Nadi and has control over the heart.   The Chakra is deep red in color.  The presiding deity is Rudra and devta is Kakini.   Bana Linga is located here.   Cosmic love may be felt by concentration on this Chakra.

(e)    Vishuddhi Chakra.   This is located corresponding to the pit of the throat.   The presiding deity is Lord Shiva and devta is Goddess Shakni.     The Chakra is of pure blue color.

(f)     Ajna Chakra.   This Chakra corresponds to the space between the two eyebrows.   The Presiding deity is Lord Shambu and Devta is Hakni Shakti.   This is the most important Chakra.   It is of pure white color and the shape of full moon.

(g)    Sahasrara Chakra.     This is the abode of Lord Shiva and located at the crown of the head.     When Kundalni is united with Shiva one enjoys Supreme Bliss.   This is the seat of highest knowledge for a yogi.   The yogi who can achieve this highest knowledge becomes a Jivan Mukta.

Reading these mystical little details about the Kundalni and the Chakras is confusing for some.   Most people dismiss this as a fantasy, but all this that is written is true and a very brief sketch about the Kundalni and Chakras.   This is the most ancient and most guarded knowledge since millions of years.   One must remember all Vedic Knowledge is secular in nature and is transmitted gradually to the earnest seekers.   Caste, creed or religion is no bar for learning for learning this science.    Will and zeal is the requirement to learn this.   Words of caution again, please do not consult a quack or start on your own by reading any fancy literature on this subject.
